Brakes For Breasts 2025

 • September 29, 2026

For eight years, Grove Street Auto Repair has proudly supported Brakes for Breasts, raising funds for breast cancer research through this special October tradition. This year, we’re excited to build on that success by bringing Shovel Town Auto Service and Patriot Auto Service into the effort and expanding our support for this important cause.

Throughout October, when you schedule a qualifying brake service at any of our three locations, your brake pads or brake shoes are FREE. We’ll then match the value of those brake pads and donate it to Brakes for Breasts, turning your brake service into meaningful support for breast cancer research.*

Overall in 2025, the Brakes for Breasts program raised $292,992 with 131 independent repair shops across 34 states. Grove Street Auto Group Donated $7,392 in 2025.

If you're hearing squeaking or grinding, let us do a free brake inspection for you. If your vehicle does need new brakes, there's no better time to get them done. This program is valid from 10/1 - 10/31/26. Together, let's surpass last year's donation and make an even bigger impact!

Grove Street Auto Group committed to serving our community in a variety of ways whether it is sponsoring local sports teams or collecting toys for The Santa Foundation. Every October, we participate in the Brakes for Breasts program. In 2022, Grove Street Auto Repair donated over $4,700 to the Brakes for Breasts fundraiser and in 2023 we more than doubled that with a grand total of $10,254!!

What is Brakes for Breasts?

Brakes for Breasts is an organization that unites the hands of Independent Auto Repair Shops during the month of October. As a participating shop, Shovel Town Auto Service will provide their customers with free brake pads and the customer simply pays for the labor and any other parts that may be needed. Shovel Town Auto Service will then match the cost of the brake pads and donate the total amount to the Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund. Our industry stands united to put the Brakes on Breast Cancer!

Why is this mission important?

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2024 there will be over 310,720 people diagnosed with Breast Cancer and over 42,250 will die. With those numbers it’s hard to find anybody who hasn’t been touched by Breast Cancer. Although treatment is better than it’s ever been, why do we wait until it happens to treat it – Let’s stop it before it happens.

Many of you have lost a loved one to this horrible disease – or maybe you are the one fighting or the one helping a loved one fight. Brakes for Breasts supports Dr Vincent Tuohy’s research efforts to develop a Breast Cancer Vaccine and his philosophy of prevention.

Brakes for Breasts is about HOPE
HOPE to those fighting
HOPE for prevention
HOPE we don’t bury another loved one

The Brakes for Breasts campaign raised $200,000 just in 2022 for the Cleveland Clinic breast cancer vaccine research project. This project is on track to develop the world’s first vaccine for preventing breast cancer. This research may help with innovations related to ovarian, prostate and other cancers. Its motto: Prevention is the cure. Since 2011, the collective efforts of independent auto repair shops across the United States have readied $1,631,066 for this groundbreaking research.

As many of you know, Shovel Town Auto Service is a small family-owned and operated business where every member of our family is involved in our success. We have a very personal reason for supporting this cause; our mom was a breast cancer survivor- twice. We have also heard numerous stories from friends and customers of their battles, and are strongly committed to doing everything we can to support research and support programs.

How can you help us support this cause?

During the month of October, Shovel Town Auto Service will perform a free brake inspection for your vehicle. If your vehicle does need brakes, we will provide the brake pads FREE, and then match that amount to make a donation to the Brakes for Breast program for every brake repair with brake pads performed in October 2023. Then stay tuned for our final total. Last year we donated over $4700 and hope to surpass that in 2023.

You can make an appointment online through our
website, or give us a call at 508-316-9214. Did you know we have free loaner cars available for you to use while your vehicle is here in the shop? Be sure to make a reservation for the loaner car when you set up your appointment!
